One of the key highlights of the programme was the GDS-Awards 2026 gala, held at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin. The futuristic architecture of one of the city’s most recognisable buildings created a unique setting for a ceremony dedicated to leaders of sustainability, regeneration and positive impact in tourism and the meetings industry.

In 2026, awards were presented in three main categories:

Changemaker Award

The new Changemaker Award category was presented to Fanny Beaulieu Cormier from Tourisme Montréal. The distinction recognised her commitment to the development of regenerative tourism, her leadership and her consistent work for destinations that strengthen local communities.

Impact Award

The Impact Award, presented in cooperation with #MEET4IMPACT, went to Fáilte Ireland / Meet in Ireland. The award underlined the importance of a systemic approach to measuring and designing the legacy of business events, as well as their social impact.

Innovation Award

A particularly important moment for Poland was the presentation of the Innovation Award to Gdańska Organizacja Turystyczna / Gdańsk Convention Bureau. The awarded project, “Nothing about us without us. Accessibility Audits and Communication Cards as tools for inclusive destination change”, showed that accessibility in a destination should not be designed solely for people who experience barriers, but together with them.

This distinction confirmed that Polish cities are increasingly present in the international conversation on modern, responsible and inclusive destination management. See more.

Awards

Szczecin Convention Bureau recognised as Partner of the Year 2026

During GDS-Forum & Impact Day 2026, the host of the event was also recognised. Szczecin Convention Bureau received the GDS-Forum & Impact Day Partner of the Year 2026 award.

This distinction was particularly significant, as it confirmed not only the organisational success of the event, but also Szczecin’s growing position on the international map of MICE destinations. The city, supported by Żegluga Szczecińska Turystyka Wydarzenia and local partners, showed that it can combine ambition, hospitality, responsibility and long-term strategic work on the development of business tourism.
