One of Europe’s leading conferences focused on the popularisation of science has successfully concluded. Ecsite 2025, hosted this year at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, brought together over 950 delegates from more than 50 countries, including science educators, researchers, exhibition designers, representatives of cultural institutions, and technology providers.
Held under the theme “Shaping the Future of Science Engagement”, the event served as a dynamic platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation across the science communication and cultural sectors.
The Polish Tourism Organisation was an official partner of the conference, further reinforcing Poland’s position as a prime destination for international business and knowledge-driven events.
Three Days of Dialogue on Science, the Future, and Responsibility in Warsaw
The Ecsite 2025 conference programme featured dozens of sessions and workshops, an exhibition showcasing a technology fair, and numerous networking events. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on how science centres can respond to some of today’s most pressing challenges: the climate crisis, disinformation, social polarisation, and the rise of artificial intelligence. The agenda tackled both difficult and inspiring themes, with a strong emphasis on the need for collaboration, critical thinking, and the creation of inclusive, accessible, and socially responsible spaces.
The organisers placed a clear focus on sustainability. The catering was fully plant-based, printed materials were kept to a minimum, and part of the ticket revenue was donated to peatland restoration projects.
A Host Worthy of the Occasion
For the second time in the history of the Ecsite conference, the Copernicus Science Centre proved itself a world-class host. Delegates experienced not only the permanent and temporary exhibitions but also the work of the Copernican Revolution Lab – the Centre’s R&D team developing cutting-edge educational tools. A specially designed sensory zone, offering a moment of calm amidst the dynamic conference environment, also attracted considerable interest.
Polish Tourism Organisation – A Partner with Vision
The Polish Tourism Organisation (PTO) played a key role as the official partner of Ecsite 2025 in Warsaw. Beyond promoting Poland as an attractive travel and business event destination, the Poland Convention Bureau co-created one of the on-site spaces.
Its relaxation zone offered delegates a peaceful moment to recharge. A particular highlight was PEPPER the robot, who greeted guests, offered high-fives, and shared insights into Poland’s top attractions – combining innovation with storytelling in an engaging way.
Thanks to the commitment of the Copernicus Science Centre and partners including the Polish Tourism Organisation, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Łukasiewicz Research Network, and Warsaw Tap Water, Poland was not only the host but also an active co-creator of one of the most important science engagement events in Europe this year.
