Poland is securing its place on the global culinary map. For the first time in history, a national Michelin Guide selection will be conducted for the entire country, encompassing restaurants from across multiple regions of Poland. This landmark development is the result of cooperation between the Polish Tourism Organisation and the world’s most prestigious culinary guide.
The national selection confirms that Poland today boasts one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving gastronomic scenes in Europe. For the first time, Michelin inspectors are undertaking a comprehensive evaluation of restaurants on a nationwide scale, creating an opportunity for chefs from many cities and regions to join the elite group of establishments recognised by the guide.
The Michelin Guide, published since 1900, is widely regarded as the most influential publication in the global gastronomy sector. Michelin Stars remain the highest international symbol of culinary excellence and craftsmanship, while inclusion in the guide significantly enhances the visibility and reputation of both restaurants and entire tourism destinations.

National Michelin Guide selection in Poland
“This is fantastic news for us. Thanks to the cooperation between the Polish Tourism Organisation and the Michelin Guide, the new selection will now extend beyond selected regions and cities. On 27 May, during the gala in Kraków, we will all discover which restaurants have been awarded new stars, which will receive recommendations, and which will be recognised with the Bib Gourmand distinction. I encourage everyone to follow the announcement,” said Magdalena Krucz, President of the Polish Tourism Organisation.
The culmination of the national selection will be the first Michelin Gala in the history of Polish gastronomy, scheduled to take place on 27 May 2026 in Kraków.
The event will be hosted by Kraków, a city renowned for its centuries-old culinary heritage, a rapidly developing fine dining scene, and strong international recognition. During the ceremonial gala, chefs and restaurateurs will learn which restaurants will receive the coveted Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmand distinctions, Green Stars, and official recommendations in the guide.
Poland – a new European destination for food lovers
The national Michelin Guide selection represents not only a prestigious distinction but also tangible benefits for the economy and tourism sector. Experiences from other countries demonstrate that inclusion in the guide often leads to:
- an increase in international tourist arrivals,
- growth in the premium tourism segment,
- new options for incentive travel programmes
- a greater investment in the hospitality and gastronomy sectors,
- stronger promotion of local products and regional culinary traditions,
- an increase in reservations at recognised restaurants, often rising by several dozen per cent.
Polish cuisine, combining tradition with innovation and local heritage with global culinary trends, is now gaining an international platform that will allow it to compete with the most renowned gastronomic scenes in Europe.
The first national Michelin Guide selection for Poland, together with the historic gala in Kraków, marks the beginning of a new chapter in building Poland’s reputation as a destination for high-quality culinary experiences.
On 27 May, the eyes of Europe’s gastronomic community will turn to Kraków, where Polish chefs will learn decisions that may transform the future of their restaurants.
