Study tour in Silesia for meeting planners

Twenty participants, three cities and two days – especially for selected guests of the 1st edition of MICE EXPO, Silesia Convention Bureau organised a post-tour showcasing the unique MICE offer of the Silesian Voivodeship. The event was held in partnership with the Polish Tourism Organisation – Poland Convention Bureau.

Silesia Convention Bureau served as content partner of MICE EXPO – the trade fair for the event industry and business tourism, held for the first time in Gliwice on 6 November 2025. With meeting planners from all over Poland already in the region, the opportunity was taken to encourage selected guests to stay longer. This is how the idea for the post-tour, held on 6–7 November 2025, was born. The organisers wanted to demonstrate, in a short space of time, how Silesia’s industrial and cultural heritage is being used in the MICE sector.

Among the participants were guests from the discussion panel moderated during MICE EXPO by Sebastian Gronet, Project Manager at Silesia Convention Bureau. The group also included representatives of event agencies and corporations seeking new destinations for their corporate events. Special guests were also invited – Professor Rob Davidson, lecturer at Greenwich Business School and owner of MICE Knowledge, and Gustav Palacios, representative of CIM Magazin, the leading meetings industry title in Germany. Both came to Silesia at the invitation of the Silesia Convention Bureau.

The post-tour began with a networking cocktail at PreZero Arena Gliwice, which served as the official closing of the first edition of MICE EXPO. After the reception, guests travelled to VOCO in Katowice for an overnight stay. This is a new hotel, opened in June this year, operating in the former Hotel Katowice – an iconic property from a bygone era.

The following day, after a site inspection of the hotel, the group went on to Zabrze, where a game of turbo-golf was arranged 320 metres underground in the Historic Guido Coal Mine. This is one of the most unique team-building products not only in the region, but also internationally.

After an exciting competition, participants were able to see a distinctive conference space with excellent acoustics at the same depth, and enjoy a Silesian lunch in the lowest-located restaurant in Europe – 320 metres below ground level. The menu featured śląski bombon, a black pudding croquette in panko, and a Silesian classic – beef roulade with dumplings and red cabbage. The catering was provided by Catering Arts.

“I would like to thank Silesia Convention Bureau for the invitation to MICE EXPO and for the unforgettable time during the post-tour. Your hospitality, energy and the wonderful atmosphere you created made these two days full of positive vibes and inspiration. Thanks to you, the event was not only content-rich but also extremely enjoyable. This meeting was truly special and your presence brought a unique charge of energy to it,” said Anna Zera, Business Travel Manager at STS SA.

The post-tour through Katowice, Gliwice and Zabrze was organised in partnership with the Polish Tourism Organisation – Poland Convention Bureau.

“The post-tour organised by Silesia Convention Bureau demonstrated in an excellent way the immense MICE potential of the Silesian Voivodeship – from modern venues such as PreZero Arena Gliwice to the unique spaces of the Historic Guido Mine, which make it possible to create unforgettable event formats and incentive programmes. Such initiatives are extremely valuable because they give planners the opportunity to experience the region’s offer first-hand, meet local suppliers and verify event logistics in practice. As the Poland Convention Bureau of the Polish Tourism Organisation, we support this type of project because they translate into real business decisions and help strengthen the position of Poland – including Silesia – in the highly competitive international meetings and events market,” added Jarosław Marciuk, Chief Marketing Specialist at the Poland Convention Bureau of the Polish Tourism Organisation.
