Katowice hosted the final meeting in the Destination Poland Green Academy series – a nationwide initiative organised by SITE Poland and Poland Convention Bureau POT, dedicated to developing competencies in the organisation of sustainable events and responsible management of business destinations.
The event was organised in cooperation with Silesia Convention Bureau. At the initiative of SCB, the workshops took place at Mercure Katowice Centrum – a venue recognised as one of the leaders in implementing ESG solutions in the region.
The programme of the meeting included an analysis of the key global trends related to sustainable development, changing client expectations, and the benefits of organising responsible events for organisers, participants and destinations. An important element of the workshops was also the practical part, during which participants worked in teams on concepts for conferences, team-building events and incentive programmes using the potential of the Silesian Voivodeship.
The scenarios developed during the workshops included solutions designed to increase the positive social, environmental and economic impact of organised events. Teamwork and the exchange of experience demonstrated that the region offers a rich portfolio of venues, attractions and partners, making it possible to prepare events that are attractive, authentic and aligned with the principles of sustainable development.
Poland Convention Bureau and Silesia Convention Bureau would like to thank all consortium members and partners for their strong attendance, active participation in the workshops and high level of engagement in discussions and project-based exercises. The practical experience of participants and their openness to seeking new solutions supporting the development of responsible business tourism and the meetings industry were particularly valuable.
