Discover how Poland is redefining the MICE industry  through an ambitious green transformation, merging environmental responsibility with world-class event standards to meet the evolving expectations of global organizers.

The Drive for Sustainable Destinations

Sustainable development has become a cornerstone of destination competitiveness in Poland. Event organizers now prioritize destinations that offer green certifications, locally sourced products, and energy-efficient infrastructure. Poland is responding by modernizing tourism strategies and engaging local communities to ensure long-term, responsible growth in the meetings industry.

Polish Green Champions

Four key cities – Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Szczecin – are leading Poland’s sustainable MICE offer. These “Green Champions” are active participants in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index), which measures and manages the impact of the tourism and events sector.

Kraków was the first to join, while Gdańsk has seen significant leaps in its rankings through cross-sector collaboration. Wrocław and Szczecin joined in early 2025, using the index to professionalize their efforts and internationalize their green offerings.

Major Events: GDS-Forum and Spotlight on Poland 2026

In June 2026, Szczecin will host the GDS-Forum & Impact Day, a significant distinction that positions the city among the most committed sustainable destinations in Europe. This event focuses on “impact-driven events” that generate tangible social and environmental value.

It will be held in conjunction with the 5th anniversary of Spotlight on Poland, which will gather participants in Poznań and Szczecin to focus on “Value, Relevance, and Impact”.

Destination Poland Green Academy and Manifesto

To support the industry, the Destination Poland Green Academy provides nationwide educational workshops to help professionals design events in line with ESG principles.

These efforts are guided by the Sustainable Incentive Travel Manifesto, which outlines 10 pillars for creating meaningful, ethical, and eco-friendly incentive programs that reduce carbon footprints.

Low Sensory Show Room

Poland is also pioneering neuroinclusivity through the Low Sensory Show Room (LSSR). This mobile, modular solution is designed for large events to help participants reduce sensory overload and regain comfort.

By addressing the needs of neurodivergent individuals, Poland is enhancing guest satisfaction and strengthening its reputation as a destination that understands modern market needs.
