The Destination Poland Green Academy is launching: a nationwide educational programme led by the Poland Convention Bureau in partnership with SITE Poland. The project aims to support the MICE sector in building competencies, implementing good practice and consciously designing events in line with sustainability principles and ESG.

In an era of growing climate, social and economic pressure, environmental responsibility is no longer optional: it is becoming a requirement. That is why the programme’s guiding message is “All hands on deck!”, an invitation to act together regardless of an organisation’s size, scope of services or region of operation.

About the project

The Destination Poland Green Academy project includes:

  • A series of practical educational workshops in selected regions of Poland, delivered by SITE Poland experts and based on the proprietary Sustainable Tourism Manifesto, developed as a legacy of two editions of the Responsible Incentive Travel Day conference.
  • Green Talks: interviews with regional representatives after each workshop.
  • An e-book publication featuring tangible examples of good practice from the regions, available for use across the industry.
  • Promotion of the initiative and Poland’s MICE offering within the SITE Global community.

Destination Poland Green Academy is more than a training series: it is a catalyst for changing mindsets and practices across the industry. Building sustainability literacy is now essential to competitiveness on the global market. Clients and partners increasingly expect events and travel to be delivered responsibly, with care for the environment, local communities and future generations.

“This is the time to speak with one voice and act together: all hands on deck! Let’s build a strong, modern and responsible Destination Poland brand,” emphasise the programme organisers and authors Grażyna Grot-Duziak and Beata Koziarska of SITE Poland.

The programme is addressed to:

  • local Convention Bureaux, city and regional promotion organisations
  • representatives of visitor attractions
  • meeting and incentive travel organisers
  • conference organisers
  • as well as the MICE industry and local media

“Year on year, more Polish cities are taking concrete steps towards sustainability. Low-emission transport strategies are being implemented, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure is developing, and event delivery is increasingly based on less-waste principles. Awareness among local communities and tourism stakeholders is also growing, which has a positive impact on the quality and credibility of these initiatives. We look to the future with optimism, hoping that more cities and regions, represented by local Convention Bureaux, will become drivers of responsible change. With so-called second- and third-tier cities in mind, the Poland Convention Bureau, together with SITE Poland experts, has developed the Destination Poland Green Academy educational programme,” said Aneta Książek, Head of the Poland Convention Bureau at the Polish Tourism Organisation.

Workshops within the programme will take place in late 2025 and in the first half of 2026 in Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Łódź, Katowice, Lublin and Poznań.

“The initiative aims to promote sustainable practices in incentive event delivery and to support a more responsible promotion of city and regional offerings. Changing how we manage tourism and the meetings and events industry is no longer a choice: it is a necessity, driven both by climate change and by the growing expectations of visitors,” Książek added.
